Dr Gary Franks - GP
Male - EnglishQualifications: MBBS
Our principal GP, Dr Gary Franks is a family man, with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
For 40 years Dr Franks has worked in general practice, establishing his own practice here at Shire Family Medical in 2015.Gary enjoys the wide variety of work that comes with general practice with special interest in Mens Health, Skin Cancer prevention and Minor Surgery, Chronic Medical Conditions, Travel Medicine and Vaccinations, Mental Health and Antibiotic Stewardship.
Dr Franks is also a qualified GP Supervisor and contributes significantly to the training of GP Registrars and Medical Students. His interests and hobbies include local community and annual overseas mission trips through his church, as well as spending time with family, swimming, surfing and photography.
Dr Franks is currently not seeing new patients.
Dr Soney Jacob - GP
Male - English, MalayalamQualifications: MBBS, MRCGP(UK), FRACGP, MRCS
Dr Jacob has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist GP across three continents. Dr Jacob is qualified for surgery through the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). He has attained qualifications in General Practice with the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Jacob is a highly sort after GP within the Sutherland Shire who is well regarded by all patients treated under his care, as well as being highly respected within the medical fraternity.
Having attained a GP fellowship in Skin Cancer Surgery, Dr Jacob specialises in preventative skin cancer services.
Dr Jacob has a keen interest in Holistic family Medicine, Fibromyalgia, men’s health and preventative health and also specialises in administering joint and soft tissue injections. Dr Jacob is a qualified GP Supervisor and contributes significantly to the training of GP Registrars and Medical Students. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his family and loves to play badminton. He is also a keen follower of cricket and tennis.
Dr Morgan Anslow - GP

Dr Morgan Anslow graduated from the University of Sydney Graduate Medical Program in 2010, after completing her undergraduate studies in Advanced Neuroscience and Psychology. She completed her initial medical training at Liverpool Hospital, following which she was employed as a Paediatric Registrar by the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Dr Anslow has completed her Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course, Diploma in Child Health, Family Planning NSW Course in Reproductive and Sexual Health and more recently, Professional Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine.
Dr Anslow began her specialist General Practice training in 2016 in the Sutherland Shire. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice, including Child and Adolescent Health, Women’s Health, Mental Health and Preventative Health.
Outside of work Dr Anslow enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and two young daughters. She is also passionate about staying active – participating in Oztag, Netball, Waterskiing and Fun Runs regularly. Dr Anslow is a keen supporter and volunteer for Miracle Babies Foundation and other charities.
Dr Katrina Mikhail - GP
Female - Arabic, EnglishQualifications: BMedSt, MD
Dr Katrina Mikhail graduated from Bond University, Queensland with a Bachelor of Medical studies and a Doctor of Medicine, in 2018.
Dr Mihail completed her internship and residency at Gold Coast University Hospital. She then completed her senior residency at St George Hospital and Sutherland Hospital before entering General Practice.
Dr Mikhail enjoys the diversity of General Practice with special interest in women’s health, paediatrics, chronic health management and preventative care.
In her time outside of work, Katrina enjoys kayaking, hiking, soccer and spending time with her family and friends. She is highly involved in her church community and enjoys serving as a primary Sunday School teacher at her local parish.
Dr Mikhail is qualified to insert and remove Implanon Contraceptive.
Dr James Zhang - GP
Male - English, MandarinQualifications: BMedMD, FRACGP, CHIA, Cert EM (ACEM)
Dr James Zhang graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Medical Studies, Doctor of Medicine, in 2015 (BMed/MD).
Dr Zhang has worked extensively in St George and Sutherland Hospital, has attained qualifications with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a certificate in Emergency Medicine from the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
He is currently working as a Hospital in the Home/Virtual Care specialist in the Northern Sydney Local Health district and has a special interest in providing sub-acute care and ED avoidance.
Outside of work, Dr Zhang is an escape room enthusiast, enjoys playing touch footy and regularly involved in serving at his church.
Dr Zhang is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Unfortunately Dr Zhang's books are closed and he is not seeing new patients.
