Dr Colin Walsh is a highly experienced Obstetrician who has been providing pregnancy care for almost 20 years.  In addition, Colin is one of the very few qualified Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists in Sydney; he has completed an advanced 3-year fellowship in high-risk obstetrics and is recognised as an expert in caring for the most complex pregnancies.

Colin’s areas of expertise include antenatal care and delivery of women with medical disorders in pregnancy, twin pregnancies, women with previous pregnancy complications, IVF pregnancies and older mothers.  He is also very happy to care for women with low-risk pregnancies, who can be reassured by Colin’s high-level qualifications and expertise in every aspect of pregnancy and birth.

Prior to commencing full time private practice, Colin was a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital, where he ran the Medical Disorders in Pregnancy antenatal clinic for 5 years.  He now delivers his patients exclusively at North Shore Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital and is highly experienced in all modes of birth.

In addition to his specialist fellowship in high-risk pregnancy, Colin also completed a 3-year fellowship in female pelvic floor disorders, which he finds invaluable in counselling women about their birthing options.  His specialist training was undertaken in Dublin, Sydney, New York and Cambridge, UK.

Colin is abreast of the latest obstetric evidence and has himself published more than 90 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.  He holds a PhD in pelvic floor disorders from the University of New South Wales and has presented at national and international conferences.

Colin offers pregnancy care and pre-pregnancy counselling appointments in his rooms in St Leonards.
