Doctor David Dowling was my GP for over 15 years.
While his bedside manner and friendliness still remains, he has become exceptionally money hungry over the years.
For not the first time, he forgot to issue a script for me while in consultation.
Once I noticed I messaged the doctor back, who took 2 days to reply to me telling me to call the Capalaba Medical Clinic, or wait 5 days for his return from a trip when he would provide it.
I called the clinic, as the medication is post surgery antibiotics that I need urgently, but was told that I would have to pay 120 dollars for a phone consult.
Not having that money on hand, I waited the 5 days, risking my health on the word of this doctor. When I called up to have him send me the script, I was greeted by the same message, only from him. Despite forgetting to issue me the script, he wanted me to pay 100 dollars for a phone consult, to get medication he knew I needed post hospital.

I cancelled all future appointments with the doctor, and I’m currently searching for a doctor who cares more about his patients than his pocket.
A shame because he was one the best doctor I had ever met.

I have been seeing Dr Dowling for about 20 years and he has always been understanding and compassionate. I wasn’t so pressed with the nurse who kept me waiting 20 minutes and only then when I went searching for her a few weeks ago when I needed stitches removed . Most of the receptionists I find friendly and polite. I think if you are friendly you will be treated well.

I’m a disability support worker who went to get a Covid-19 test as a precaution as I was feeling unwell. I received a negative result but informed to continue self-isolating. I had a cracking headache and required a prescription for something I’ve received several times from the doctor I’ve seen there for years, a little stronger than Panadol that you used to get over the counter. They charged me $75 for a “phone consultation” that lasted literally less than a minute… Those are the facts. Use your own pronouns for describing such people…. It’s the last straw. I’m done with this place.
