I rang the Labrador Medical Centre today, Tuesday, hoping to obtain an appointment for the end of the week.

The only appointment available was Friday morning at 7.30 which was unsuitable, so I asked for another appointment next week. I also asked if they have bulk billing services, and the gentleman then put me onto another person.

I asked again for an appointment next week, for a female doctor, and for one who may bulk bill pensioners. She was very abrupt and told me that the female doctors were impossible to get into, and that they are a private practice, and do not bulk bill.

She then informed me of the costs involved in seeing the doctor which is too expensive for me to pay out at once, especially given the low rebate from Medicare. I then asked her for an appointment next Tuesday, to which I was informed that it is a public holiday and they are closed.

I don’t know how they treat their regular patients, but I was extremely displeased with the treatment I received. I found her to be very unprofessional in her dealings with me, and terse in her demeanour. I understand that pratices do become busy with many patients, however, I don’t believe that is the way to treat people.

Due to limited mobility, I chose this medical centre as it is a very short walk from where I am currently staying, however, I now have to try and find another practice that is closer. I will not go to the Labrador Park Medical Centre again as I was left sitting for an hour waiting to see a doctor, in spite of having an appointment, and was totally unsatisfied with the doctor that I eventually did see.

I am trying to get treatment for a fungal nail infection, however, since I have been here in Queensland, I have found it to be virtually impossible to make an appointment to have it looked at.

I will be phoning the Labrador Medical Centre a bit later today to cancel my appointment.

I believe it to be very important to leave this feedback for both centres.
