We are very privileged to introduce Dr Jasmina Kevric, an aspiring General Surgeon, health activist, leader, and inspiration.
Jasmina will contribute on The Health Today Blog by sharing her experiences and knowledge of the health industry.
Former refugee from war-torn country Bosnia, Jasmina arrived to Australia not speaking the English language with only one goal in mind; educating herself so that she may help others. Her background and experiences made her determined to one day be in a position where she can now speak for those who find themselves in life changing circumstances such as war – a position in which she is proud to be in today.
As a high achiever she has been awarded Australia’s Young Achiever award for the success she has achieved.
As a medical student, Jasmina founded not-for-profit organisations focusing on reducing the negative media attention surrounding newly arrived refugees. She also took to the step of Parliament, traveling to Canberra with 100 other young health activists raising awareness of international aid.
Jasmina is always further increasing her knowledge within the healthcare system, she is currently undertaking a Masters of Public Health. She is working towards her goal of becoming an influential General Surgeon, where she hopes her surgical and health advocacy skills will help reduce the high death rate of women suffering from breast cancer in developing countries.
Her insights, experience and passion of increasing awareness of health to Australians will be a great contribution to The Health Today Blog.
Jasmina recently returned from a trip to India where she further broadened her knowledge of health, and has described her experience as being ‘out of this world’ – stay tuned for this upcoming article from Jasmina.
